Redesigned for 2026, the Salomon S/LAB QST Echo blends cutting-edge freeride performance with backcountry efficiency in one of the lightest and most progressive builds to ever wear the QST badge. With a 106 mm waist, pronounced rocker lines, and ultralight basalt construction, the Echo is purpose-built for ski mountaineers, steep skiers, and big line seekers who value stability on the descent and efficiency on the approach. It’s designed for those who don’t want to compromise—whether they’re skinning to a summit or dropping into a committing couloir.

At the heart of the Echo’s build is Salomon’s [BST] Basalt Superlight Fiber—a sustainable, vibration-damping reinforcement that replaces traditional carbon or metal without the harshness. A Karuba/Poplar full wood core strikes a balance of stiffness and energy with a damp, confidence-inspiring ride. The ski’s Double Sidewall construction improves edge hold on firmer snow, while the 106 mm waist, generous tip and tail rocker (25% and 17%, respectively), and taper shape enhance maneuverability and float in soft or variable conditions. Weighing in at just 1700 g in the 179 cm length, it’s impressively light for a ski with this much substance.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Echo skis true to size. Those prioritizing tight terrain or jump turns in technical descents may size down slightly for control, while riders focused on speed, stability, or big-mountain objectives should stick with their usual freeride length for top-end confidence.
