An incredibly diverse and mesmerizing region for an amazing cycling vacation

Italy has many regions and treasures to explore. A great place to begin or continue that journey is Piedmont and Liguria. Nestled between the alpine borders of France and Switzerland and bordered by the Italian Riviera this place seems to have it all. The sophisticated and urbane city of Turin with museums, historical and cultural sites, shopping, cafés and restaurants. The rolling landscape of the Langhe and Roero – home to famed wine villages Barolo and Barbaresco, is brimming with thousands of kilometers of small, paved roads perfect for cycling. They wend their way to the Apennine crest and the Mediterranean seacoast. The arc of the Alps dominate the horizon. Here one can challenge themselves on the legendary passes of the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France.

The cooking of this region is reason enough to visit. A quarter of a century ago Carlo Petrini founded The Slow Food movement in the small city of Bra halfway between the crest of the Alps and the sea. The people here take their food seriously. From those who farm the land, make the bread and pasta, and cook in the countless trattorias and restaurants, you are sure to meet someone passionate and devoted to the art of eating well.

If wine is your bent we can spend an afternoon learning the intracacies of the grapes Nebbiola, Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. These varietals comprise the pantheon of wine to be discovered and enjoyed here. Barolo and Barbaresco, once minor players on the world's stage, have come front and center. Returning home with a new appreciation for the region's wines is an added bonus of a trip with us. We'll introduce you to our friends and neighbors who grow and make some delicious and interesting wines - we'll even arrange shipments home for you so you can share your discoveries with friends back home as you recount your travels.

Cycling is a time honored tradition here. Italians have great respect and admiration for cycling. On our daily rides we are sure to meet groups of riders saluting each other with a salve or buongiorno – it is this camaraderie that makes the sport so inclusive and welcome. We look forward to planning an interesting and fulfilling cycling tour with you. We'll share our passion and knowledge for the roads and routes throughout the region.
